Be Careful Out There—They’re Watching You

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Jan. 23, 2012 that police violated the Constitution when they attached a global positioning system (GPS) tracker to a suspect's vehicle without a valid search warrant. The ruling opens a window into how the high court may rule in a flood of privacy cases expected in coming years over use of new technologies like cellphones, email and online documents.
