Winter is on its way, and that got me thinking about a client I helped a year or so ago. She fell on a thick piece of ice at her apartment complex and broke her ankle, which led to a blood clot settling in one of her lungs. That's a very dangerous condition - and it was caused by the negligence of the apartment owner for not fixing a broken drain pipe.
Slip and fall injuries can happen anywhere, on just about any surface - and when you least expect it. Common places for Denver slip and fall accidents are grocery stores, big box stores, restaurants or any place hazardous conditions exist. Falls and injuries can be caused by liquid or food that's spilled on the floor, boxes or other obstacles left in an aisle to trip over, items that fall from a high shelf or many other dangerous situations.
Injuries from falls can be minor, require little attention and result in some bruises and sore spots. But having your feet go out from under you taking a terrible fall can lead to much more serious injuries and may lead to expensive medical treatment. If you're injured falling at a dangerous location and the property's owner is found to be negligent and to have caused your injuries by not taking the proper steps to make sure you're safe, then you may be entitled to be compensated for your injuries.
If you've slipped and hurt yourself, you could be entitled to payment for your medical expenses, pain and suffering, and out-of-pocket expenses, including lost wages. Give me a call at (303) 758-4777 or email me at DLS@dlslawfirm.com for a free evaluation of your case.
The good news for my client is that her blood clot was treated, her ankle healed and she's getting around just fine. A healthy settlement with the apartment owner's insurance company also helped convince him to finally fix his leaky drain.
