What do we mean by "serious injury"

Generally, serious injuries have long term or permanent consequences. They involve physical, psychological or economic disability or a significant impact on a person’s life. Future or continuing medical expenses, additional lost wages (or even loss of a job or complete disability) or other special costs such as rehabilitation or in-home care, also indicate that the injury is probably serious.
