Here’s a story from the school of hard knocks. A man was broadsided by a driver who ran a red light. There was several thousand dollars of damage to his car and he wound up with a sore back. The other person’s insurance company quickly said they would repair his car and pay for a few visits to his doctor. They told him there was no need to get an attorney involved, that they would take care of him and would pay him fairly for his claim.
So he took the insurance company’s word. It may not surprise you to hear how this story ended.
The insurance company did repair his car and did pay him the few hundred dollars for doctor visits they said they would. But as time went on his back pain got worse. The problem, as he learned later, was that the accident caused two herniated disks in his spine and he needed a $50,000 surgery. He wanted to know if we could help him get the money from the auto insurance company. It pained me to tell him that because he had accepted the insurance company’s offer, it was too late.
Actions speak louder than words. An insurance company may tell you that they’ll take care of you and that you don’t need a lawyer. But the insurance company is looking out for its own interests, not yours. It’s worth your time to talk to us – we look out for your interests.
